Fun Facts About Trogons
Trogons are tropical birds designed with brilliant colors including metallic greens, reds, yellows, and blues. These beautiful forest birds are found in warm regions of Central and South America, Africa, and Asia. Trogons have large eyes, short beaks, and a unique foot structure with two toes pointing forward and two pointing backward.
There are about 40 species of trogons including the spectacular Resplendent Quetzal. These birds perch quietly on branches waiting to catch insects, small lizards, or pluck fruits from trees. Trogons nest in tree cavities or old termite nests and are known for their soft hooting calls that echo through the forest.
