Types Of Extinct Fish
There are four types of extinct fish that have existed and also exist today.
Extinct Jawless:
This group of extinct fish include bony and ray finned. They have a circular mouth and do not have jaws.
Extinct Cartilaginous:
Cartilaginous fish have a skeleton made entirely of cartilage instead of bones. Cartilage is that soft squishy tissue that makes up your ear and nose!
Extinct Bony:
Bony fish have a skeleton made entirely out of bones, like us! Bony fish also have a plate called an "Operculum" over their gills to protect them.
Extinct Teleosts:
Teleost are a type of bony skeleton fishes that have ray fins and are able to portrude their jaws outwards from their mouths.
