Elephants are the largest land animals on Earth! These gentle giants have long trunks, big floppy ears, and thick gray skin. God designed elephants with amazing features like their powerful trunk that works like a hand. Elephants use their trunks to grab food, drink water, spray themselves for baths, and even hug their family members! Elephants are very smart and live in close family groups led by the oldest female.
There are three types of elephants: African bush elephants, African forest elephants, and Asian elephants. African elephants are the biggest with the largest ears. Asian elephants are smaller with rounder ears. All elephants are herbivores that eat grass, leaves, bark, and fruit. An adult elephant can eat 300 pounds of food every day!
